Mixed Use Building
Mamaroneck, NY
Bob Y, the president of a commercial real estate development company, was under construction on a multi-use building in Mamaroneck, NY and looking for ways to make the project stand out. Sunrise worked with his team to design a PV system that would generate 90% of the electrical usage for all the common spaces- elevator, lighting, alarm, and pumps. By using all the available incentives- NYSERDA rebates, Federal 30% tax grant, and accelerated depreciation, Sunrise was able to show Bob how he could use his construction financing to make the system profitable almost from Day 1.
“Sunrise handled absolutely all the paperwork and made my life easy. From permitting, appearances before the Architectural Review Board, construction documents and working with my engineer, through to construction and commissioning. They even processed my Federal paperwork and got me my grant money.”

The system was so successful that Con Edison used it as a site to film a training video for their inspectors. “I was on site when NYSERDA did its inspection. The inspector called the system one of the best he had seen.”
Bob feels the investment in solar has made the project more marketable due to the heightened consumer desire and awareness of green building technologies, as well as his ability to lower common charges on the units due to his reduced electric bills.
